October 2009

Zest has received three-years’ funding from the Henry Smith Charity to run a Happy & Healthy Communities project in Burmantofts, Richmond Hill and Halton Moor. The work will include a range of wellbeing activities, community cohesion and family development projects, and a new Family Health Development Worker is expected to be in post from January 2010.

September 2009

Zest has recruited a Food & Health Development Worker to deliver Cook 4 Life courses and Healthy Eating sessions across Inner East Leeds.

Prince Charles met Worker Maureen at Clarence House

Our Community Health Development Worker Maureen was a guest of HRH Prince Charles at Clarence House recently, following her much-deserved success in the Business in the Community regional award ceremony. Maureen won the Sieff award for outstanding community work in the Yorkshire and the Humber region; a magnificent achievement of which we are all very proud! HRH told Maureen off for not having a drink in her hand - she was obviously on her best behaviour!

March 2009

Zest – Health for Life was thrilled to win an award at the recent NHS Leeds Healthy Living Grants award ceremony. The Social Capital award was given after Zest coordinated two successful Health through Warmth events at the All Being Well stall in Leeds Market. An extra stall was opened, and ten different agencies attended, giving advice and information to older people on the theme of staying warm and safe throughout the winter months. 604 people dropped in over the two days and over 20 referrals were made to the Health through warmth scheme.
